Multiphoton Ionization of Atoms by an Ultrashort Laser Pulse
نویسنده
چکیده
Closed analytical expressions for the probability of multiphoton ionization of atoms and ions by a time-varying electric field %(t) are obtained by the imaginary time method. These expressions apply for arbitrary values of the Keldysh parameter γ. The dependence of the ionization probability and the photoelectron momentum spectrum on the shape of an ultrashort laser pulse is considered. © 2001 MAIK “Nauka/Interperiodica”.

Angular distributions for double ionization of Li- by an ultrashort, intense laser pulse.
We predict photoelectron angular distributions for double ionization of Li- by both weak and intense ultrashort, linearly polarized laser pulses by direct numerical integration of the three-dimensional, time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Li- is treated as a two-active electron system. Near threshold, for low intensity we recover general features of angular distributions for one-photon double ...
متن کاملAbnormal pulse duration dependence of the ionization probability of Na atoms in intense laser fields
We studied the ionization probability of Na atoms in an intense Ti–sapphire laser at 800 nm versus the laser pulse duration. The ionization probabilities for the Na(3s) and Na(3p) states were found to vary non-monotonically with the pulse duration at a constant peak laser intensity. The abnormal (non-monotonic) pulse duration dependence was traced to the competition between resonant and non-res...
متن کاملField dependent avalanche ionization rates in dielectrics.
From the pulse length dependence of the absorption of intense ultrashort laser pulses focused inside fused silica, we reveal the role field-assisted collisional ionization plays in the multiphoton ionization process. This constitutes a cold avalanche ionization mechanism that persists at pulse lengths considered too short for a traditional avalanche.
متن کاملExperimental Demonstration of Laser Temporal Coherence Effects on Multiphoton Ionization Processes
A single-transverse-mode Q-switched Nd-glass laser, which can operate over a variable number of longitudinal modes, has been used to investigate the influence of the temporal nature of the laser pulse on the multiphoton ionization probability of xenon atoms. For a seven-mode laser pulse, the number of ions formed is increased by several orders of magnitude over that produced by a single-longitu...
متن کاملTwo-active electron approach to multi-electron systems in intense ultrashort laser pulses: Application to Liâ•fi
The interaction of Li– with an ultrashort intense laser pulse is investigated by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) in the dipole approximation using a two-active electron approach. We describe the numerical solution of the TDSE and give a more detailed presentation of a technique for obtaining angular distributions for double ionization by intense ultrashort laser pulses. W...
